so many advantages. It never crossed my mind as that I was being very one sided. The more I learned about my home country, the genocide, the rape, the extortion, I had an epiphany. These woman, these men, these children could easily have been me. I believe I am in a place where I can help. I strongly believe we each have a purpose on earth and that purpose varies from person to person. As a PCT in a Cardiac Intensive Care Unit, I've seen many things good and bad. Many things that could have been prevented but have taken the wrong turn, just like the Congo. Somewhere along the road, the Democratic Republic of Congo has taken a wrong turn and its up to the next generation to get it back on track. People like you and I can make a great impact in the Congo but it will take a team to do so.

          Being Congolese, I believe is a gift as well as a responsibility. American raised but Congolese born I've always had a yearning to know more about where I come from. Compared to many other people of the Congo, I was raised very well off in the capital Kinshasa. Very far from what was going on in the east. I would be the first to get upset if I saw negative images of Africa, as in village life, because as far as I knew it, Africa was a modern place with fast action technology and
